Conaty Park Dedication Saturday, April 28th

Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony To Take Place at 12:30. First Pitch at 1 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University will officially dedicate its new Conaty Park this Saturday, April 28, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m., followed by the “first pitch” at 1 p.m. when the Bulldogs take on Northeast Conference opponent Fairleigh Dickinson.

Thanks to the generous contributions of alumnus Bill Conaty ’67, the Bryant baseball and softball complex was transformed into a first-class Division I facility.  The facility includes bleacher seating for 500, including 200 chairback seats, as well as a new state-of-the-art press box for all in-game operations and broadcasts, turning the facility into arguably the best baseball/softball complex in New England.

“This is a nice place.”

That is the phrase I uttered to myself several times while sitting in the bleachers at Conaty Park.  The Boys of Summer’s new home at Bryant University, which was finished just a few months ago has seen major improvements over its predecessor. The park is named after Bryant Trustee and alumnus, Bill Conaty ‘67.

Beyond the warm brick of the Elizabeth and Malcolm Chace Wellness and Athletic Center, past the Bryant University parking lots and the manicured lawns of Bulldog Stadium, Conaty Field beckons. What was once only a vision has turned into reality. The newly upgraded and refurbished baseball and softball complex waits in anticipation for the 2012 season to begin.

Thanks to the generous support of one man, Bryant University Trustee and alumnus Bill Conaty ’67, when the Bryant University baseball team opens its home schedule on March 20, Conaty Field’s true residents – 33 players wrapped in proud Black and Gold – will take the field in a completely renovated space.

A “seminal moment” for a “talent master”

The Talent Masters is one of the most valuable business books I have read in recent years. Co-authored by Bill Conaty and Ram Charan, and published by Crown Business (2010), it offers a wealth of information, insights, and counsel to explain “why smart leaders put people before numbers.”
